KOJEN English Centers were founded by Mr. Kenneth Hou in recognition of a compelling need to learn English in Taiwan in the 1980s. In partnership with English Language Services, the largest intensive English program in the U.S., in its first 20 years, KOJEN has now morphed into one of the most prestigious and trusted English institutes in Taiwan that has approximately 1000 teachers and staff and more than 30 branches located in Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Kaohsiung City.
Against the backdrop of English as a language of international communication, KOJEN offers a wide range of courses geared toward learners at all age levels—preschoolers, children, teenagers, and adults. KOJEN’s course offering has stretched beyond classroom-based courses, also constitutive of the study abroad Division, English for specific purposes Division, and Japanese Division.
From 1982 onwards, KOJEN has been committed to a view of student learning as bound inextricably with curriculum and instruction. Thus, KOJEN provides its students with curricula suited to their needs. KOJEN’s student-centered pedagogy enables the students to participate in classroom activities and interact with others in the context of shared experience. KOJEN also provides teacher training and on-going pedagogical support for its teachers. Its well-developed curriculum caters to the needs of novice, in-service, as well as high-caliber teachers. In a bid to ensure the quality of teaching and learning, KOJEN has not been franchised.
